The Accelerated BSN program is a full-time, 15-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. The 120-credit program includes 60 credits of general education and prerequisites (completed before acceptance) and 60 credits of professional nursing coursework completed through the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Course types
- 34 credits of hybrid courses — combine theory with clinical learning components (simulations, lab experiences, and in-person clinical experiences in healthcare settings)
- 26 credits of online courses — completed asynchronously through Moodle
- All nursing courses must be completed through the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions and cannot be taken out of sequence
BSNA Units
The 60 credits of nursing coursework are divided across 8 BSNA Units. Each unit includes a combination of hybrid and online courses taken concurrently.
- Unit 1 — 8 credits
- Unit 2 — 7 credits
- Unit 3 — 7 credits
- Unit 4 — 6 credits
- Unit 5 — 10 credits
- Unit 6 — 9 credits
- Unit 7 — 7 credits
- Unit 8 — 6 credits
Clinical learning components
Clinical learning components in hybrid courses include simulations (on-site and virtual), on-site lab experiences, and in-person clinical experiences in various healthcare settings.
Collaborative learning sessions
Attendance and participation in all scheduled collaborative learning sessions (CLS) are strongly encouraged. CLS attendance contributes to the Professional Nursing Portfolio evaluated in NUR-4500. CLS content will not be replicated or made up.
Graduate credits earned at the BSN level
Three graduate-level courses (in health policy, nursing informatics, and financial management in nursing practice) are completed as part of the BSN program. These 9 graduate credits may apply to the TESU MSN degree if you earn a B (83) or better and apply within seven years.
Important note
Course sequence may change due to clinical site availability. Because of the rigorous nature of the program, outside employment is strongly discouraged.
